E.Tautz: Autumn & Winter 2021
In a haute couture collection, especially that of a brand with history,
there is always the
right balance between innovating new products and interpreting existing ones.
This weight of inheritance is something that E. Tautz carries, although it is
not like a burden, but like a knight in his armor; Deliberately, boldly, and
uncompromisingly.

The Fall Winter 2012 collection from the E.
Tautz collection embodies the 130-year past of "Hunting
and Military" with references to original British fabrics and
construction. Chunky plaid hunting coats with soft shoulders were paired with
more comfortable silhouettes that, while clean in design, exuded a functional
and comfortable air.
The jumpsuit was textured and layered with an emphasis on
the weight of the fabric. The peaks of the lapels were muted, framed by a
raised "saddle" ending at the shoulder that lent itself to a strong
face.
“There is an imponderable immensity in weight,”
wrote Richard Serra, Patrick Grant's inspiration and
fixation with the dense absorbent forms and interpretation in the mass of
clothing.
“British fabric
manufacturers have a way of creating fabrics of a substance that few can match,
as our climate forced them to do so. Serra's designs were a bit reminiscent of
those heavy British fabrics: Cavalry Twill, Melton, Barathea. - Patrick Grant
The weight of the clothing was reflected through the soft,
almost infinite
shoulders of the coats often with hidden buttons; tissue continuity adds to
your intensity goal.
The dominant color of the collection is "hunting"
red, which offers a stark contrast to the conservative palette. Seen on tartan
plaid, wool coats, their linings and jacket trims, red pays tribute to the
great hunting heritage of E. Tautz.
